A Little Bit of Lately

Yaaaay! We're in Kansas right now.
Everyone is playing video games, so I've decided to not participate (since I despise video games) and do a little post!

School ended, and after the holidays we will both go back to work and wait for the baby to arrive :)
Devon will have to go back to school, but I won't. Ha!
Well..at least for the semester.

We haven't been up to a whole lot lately.
I got a promotion at work which is awesome, and we've just been getting ready for and celebrating the holidays.

We started the season off my procrastinating making cookies till the last second.

They were very yummy, and most of them are still sitting in our kitchen waiting to be frosted.
We are really on top of things.

Now we're in Kansas, and tomorrow is our last day :(
We have been spoiled rotten while we've been here, and I even got Devon to take some pictures with me.
What a good guy!

Looking chunky and awkward at 7 months :) haha

Little blue hat for baby boy that his Grandma Jenni made :)
So yep, that's life right now.
Tomorrow I have a baby shower out here, and I am sooo excited!
Will have to update later :)

Ramen in my hair, and skittles on my chest.

So I'm pregnant.

This has mostly consisted of me crying, throwing up, and not being able to take out the trash because of the smell.
All of those things are still occurring, maybe not as much for the throwing up, but yes still happening.
However, now I actually am starting to look like I am pregnant, and I am gaining weight because I have begun to eat like an adolescent boy.

yep.

The other day I was on my computer and found a ramen noodle in my hair, and a skittle sitting atop my bosom.
I just laughed at myself because, well it was funny.

I can also feel the baby move.
A lot.
It's like a ninja
until Devon gets around that is.

BUT
he got to feel the other day and it was awesome!!
Coolest thing ever seriously.

Well I don't really have much else to say other than that.
Life is hectic and such.
School, work, sleep
That's been my life lately.

Well...
I'm hungry now
(go figure)
so I'll leave it at that.

quite the little rambling post if you ask me.

OH!

people keep asking (mainly my parents)
"where are your belly pictures"
ugh.
Sooo... I took some tonight since i'm 18 weeks

There mom
ya happy?

Just a couple of Thiels, plus one!

So, as some of you might heard I am pregnant! Due March 16th.
Kinda cool huh?
To answer some of your questions:
No this wasn't planned.
Yes we are excited.
Yes we will find out if it is a girl or boy.
I am SOOO not that patient
No we don't care what the gender is
however, we both think it's a girl.
I really don't think there is any possibility it's a boy, but eh we'll see.

When we found out:

(sorry if this is too much information)

I was a little late, and I am never late so I was a wee bit concerned.
I thought, "hmm I guess I could take a pregnancy test just for kicks"
So while Devon was at work...or actually wherever he was. I have no idea where he was
I took a test, and the one line came up super fast.
I thought okay just thought i'd check.

So I left the bathroom, but didnt throw it away right away.
few minutes later i noticed I hadn't thrown it away so I picked it up, and low and behold another line had shown up.
WHAT!?

Naturally I started freaking out, and didn't know what to do.
Since I couldn't get a hold of Devon I called my parents
which was fun.
I had to go to work before Devon got home so I left him this:

He texted me when he got home and was like "NO WAY!?"
Haha.
He was very happy, which was a relief.

I haven't really been sick.
I mean I haven't thrown up.
I have, however, felt very very queasy every. single. day.
For just about all day.
That's been just super fun let me tell ya!

Poor Devon.
He has to deal with me right now.
Sometimes i'm the hulk
sometimes I cry
all. the. time.

He is such a good husband.
but it's gotta be worth it right?
:)

In this picture it kind of looks like a hobbit with what looks like it's gigantic foot

Mexicoco

So this past week we went on a cruise to Mexico!
It was a blast, and i've never eaten so much in my life.
Every time I think about it I kind of want to vomit.
But that's besides the point.

The first day when we took off we saw like 6 dolphins
HOW COOL IS THAT!?
I'll tell you
It's AWESOME

Unfortunately I was lazy and didn't take too many photos
I know right?
However, I did take a few from the day we went to the Tulum ruins which was pretty sweet

Cute ladies

Just sittin' learning about the ruins

And the only other photos I took were of our room
so here ya go

They were tiny little rooms

They would turn your towels into little creatures every day, and this was by far the strangest.

So there ya have it!
That's really all the photos I got. My parents got more of Devon eating lobster, sushi, and frog legs
SICK
and many more things, but I am far too lazy to copy all of those on here

Over all it was a fun trip.
The way home wasn't too exciting.
I won't get into that, but needless to say I am glad to be home and back on land

Now back to reality

Bummer.

Fun-Celebration-Joy-Woo Hoo Week

This past week has been busy with celebrations.
I just finished school last week
THANK HEAVENS
and on Thursday it was my 21st birthday, and it was awesome!
Devon got me a SUPER cute skirt

it's yellow which is awesome

I didn't have to work which was FANTASTIC
so we went to Idaho Falls, bought me a new outfit, and went to cafe rio!

Then we had some friends over for cake and ice cream, which I couldn't eat because I had just had my free 16 oz kiwi loco frozen yogurt.
I went a bit crazy since it was free...

We then went to the drive in movies with some friends and saw Ice Age, and Brave
it was awesome until Devon locked our keys in the car after the movie.
Thanks to the Rackham's for helping me be a ninja and break into our apartment to get the spare key.
crisis averted.

Then on Saturday was our one year anniversary :)
A whole YEAR woo baby!
Devon bought me an awesome new lens for my camera which I just love,
and I bought him an hour long massage since I quite suck at giving massages
and my massages usually last about 10 seconds.

on a good day.

However, since we spent so much money on each other for birthday/anniversary gifts
we weren't able to go out for our anniversary, so we just stayed home and made dinner together
cute eh?

We made little lasagna cups and they were delicious!

We pulled the table into the living room so we could have dinner and a movie and got all dressed up for the event.
:)

You can't tell that i'm really all that dressed up but i'm wearing the cute new yellow skirt Devon got me!

It was a fun and expensive week to say the least
now I just have to endure 3 days of work then we're going on a cruise with my family!
yippee!

Catching Up

Dang it's been a long time since I've posted!

So here's a recap of what's been happening in our lives for the past little while.
I'll start off with Devon's opera.

So glad it's over because I never ever got to see my husband, but shoot dang he did a good job!
I was so proud of him!

Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of him in all his get up :(
He got a pretty big role with songs all to himself and what not. He has a BEAUTIFUL voice and it was a hilarious show. Didn't like all the make-up they put on him though.
That freaked me out a bit
However, my family did come to surprise him for the show which was completely awesome!

I'm kind of a terrible photographer, because I didn't get any pictures of them here either...

OH WAIT! Yes I did!
My mother always wants a family photo whenever we're together. Unfortunately for her we don't take it seriously at all...

We loved having them out here, and they spoiled us rotten :)

Then they left, and we had to get back into the normal daily grind.
Devon did get a job though which we are SO grateful for, and hopefully he'll be starting it soon.

On a more personal note, I decided I need to get out and start taking some pictures and creating.
So I decided on a topic for a series I am going to do just for the fun of it, and I am going to document it all right in here...

I've done this before in highschool where I took a book and made it into a photo journal, and I absolutely loved it so I'd figure I'd do it again.
I'm not using the same book because my older one is a bit big and I need one that can fit into my purse, so whenever I have a thought or idea I can jot it down.
I am excited to get further into this, and I think it will be a nice goal for the summer.

Today I threw my friend a baby shower, and it was actually really fun!
I was very worried because the last shower I threw her was awful, and I wanted to make sure this was better.

Everything turned out so great!
And I was so proud of my decorating skills haha

I was especially proud of this idea. Thanks to Devon it worked out pretty well
:)

So yeah, that's been the goings on lately.
Nothing too exciting but maybe better blogs will come after I get done with this killer semester.
I might actually have time to do something interesting.

In Stranger's Company

I should write a book, that title was good!

This week I went on a Field trip for my travel studies in the arts course i'm taking this semester and guess where we gotta go!?

Salt Lake City.

Yeah, not too terribly exciting seeing as I've been there nearly a hundred times, but it was the cheaper option and cheaper is always good.

It was fairly boring and uneventful for a good portion of the trip. There were a few highlights. Some things I really enjoyed.

The galleries were not one of those enjoyable things, however it was nice to get away for a few days.

On the last day I kind of sat and thought about the trip and how many hobos are located in the Salt Lake City Library.
(Yeah, we went to the library for a portion of it)

I thought about the highs of the trip and again how boring most of it was.

Well it was boring until about 3:30 A.M. on Friday.

I was in a hotel room with about 3 other girls just sleeping away, because that is what typically goes on at 3 in the morning.

when all of a sudden a noise woke me up. I was extremely disoriented (because it was 3) and all I remember seeing was the silhouette of a man in the mirror across from the beds.

My first thought was oh it's just my teacher, and I turned back over to go to sleep. However, I happened to look at the clock at that point and saw that it was 3:30 a.m., and "my teacher" went into the bathroom and closed the door. and I thought to myself, Okay, that's not my teacher. It's probably just one of the girls getting up to go to the bathroom and it's early so they looked like a man to me.

So, I looked to my right and left and saw that both girls were in bed.

Then the person in the bathroom proceeded to relieve themselves.

and I thought,
Definitely not a girl

So, it's not a girl.
It's definitely a man, who is not my teacher

First thought: Pretend like you're asleep

IDIOT

But, that's what I did.
The man came out of the bathroom, got his cellphone out to use as a guide around the room.
He fumbled his way to the desk on the other side of the room and started looking for the switch on the lamp.

Now I'm definitely up, and so is the girl next to me.

And I'm thinking: Well that's it, I'm getting raped

He gets the light on and all we see is his backside.
His gray hair was all over the place and his shirt was all untucked and all over. He was a taller gentleman that looked somewhere in his late 60's from what I could see

Me and my roommate looked at each other, then back at him wondering
a. What are we supposed to do
and
b. What the crap is he doing in our hotel room!?

My mind is completely blank at this point, and thank goodness for the girl next to me who spoke up and said "um...I think you're in the wrong room..."

Creepy man whipped around and just looked at us.
um..hi?

He said, "uh...This isn't my room..."
(no really)

He slowly got up and said, "My key worked..that's not good"
(No it's not could you please leave?)

He apologized, and left our room.
We all just sat up laughing because that has to be THE funniest thing that has ever happened to me.

Side note:
Here are some photos from my trip!
(I didn't take very many)

P.S. We got Friday night for free

Lazy Days

Today has been such a lazy day
and it's been WONDERFUL!

I hardly ever get days where I can just sit around and do whatever I want.

I got to sleep in this morning,
awesome.

Then I went to the gym,
fantastic.

At the gym I found I lost 5 pounds
WICKED SWEET

Then I played a nerd game with Devon,
and beat him
:)

Took a nap, and just sat around.

I actually had time to make a decent dinner.
Devon was very pleased

I also went to the D.I. a few days ago and found their National Geographic section
uh oh.

I'm obsessed with National Geographic
especially if they're old

So on my lazy day today, I got to sit and read the articles
and look through all of the pictures
added bonus

As I was sitting there reading, I became incredibly inspired.
I really want to take some amazing photographs or make some awesome piece of art

we'll see if I can get around to it

enjoy your three day weekend!

It's A Beautiful Day

Today was pretty fantastic.
I got my homework done early so I was able to spend the whole day with my sweet husband :)

We started the day off with a picnic in the park

Complete with cute picnic basket

And OF COURSE Orange Cream Soda

And I made these cute mini sandwiches which I was incredibly proud of :)

Then later that evening (after a 2 hour nap) I convinced Devon to do some "family pictures"

{I put family in quotes because there's only two of us, but hey gotta start somewhere}

On any photoshoot he sorta turns into my pack mule
Poor guy he puts up with so many pictures

Here's a few little shots from our shoot :)
We used a tripod so I tried to get everything framed correctly, but I still failed most of the time
Oh well. 'A' for effort!

Found this super cute dress at DI. I was very proud of myself

Yeah...
The whole "serious" thing didn't last long

Anyway, that was our Saturday!
Hope yours was as awesome as ours!

Too Busy To Blog

Literally.

(I thought about just stopping there to be funny but that's kind of a waste)

I am in school this semester and have the biggest world load I've ever had. It's a bit ridiculous.
I am also working part time which is proving to be rather stressful.

Devon on the other hand has just been at home cleaning...
which has been kind of nice, not gonna lie :)

He also made the opera on campus and got a pretty good role.
Go Devon!

Nothing exciting has been happening other than that. Just stressing out and pushing myself to my limit.

Maybe one of these days I'll get a moment to breathe and Devon and I can do something exciting so that I will have something exciting to blog about.

Hey,
We can hope

:)

The Best Thing

Wanna know what my favorite thing ever is?

This kid.

So when I got married to my favorite thing ever, I went through some serious inner turmoil.
Since I was younger I wanted to travel the world.
When I started getting into photography, I wanted to travel the world, take pictures of it all, and sell my work in galleries all over.
I wanted to do humanitarian work in various parts of the globe.
I wanted to become a museum curator and live in studio apartment in downtown Kansas City.

Then I met Devon.

I knew that marrying him would mean my dreams and goals I had planned for myself would have to take a backseat to my marriage.
It was really hard at first to realize how little money we had and how hard I was working.
And to know that I wouldn't get to use the money on things I wanted.
It was our money, not just mine anymore.

But marrying him was worth it.
I decided that I would much rather live without Europe and fabulous museums, than live without him
(Que the cheesy "awwwws" now)

It's still hard now, but I just try not to think about it, and focus on other things.

When I was younger, I bought a jar.
This jar was to hold all of my money for my travels
(mainly Italy)

When I got married, I kept it.
But watched as the money was slowly depleted as we had bills to pay

The other night as I was getting into bed
Devon looked over at me and asked if I had seen what he wrote on the jar.
I got up and started heading towards the kitchen to get the "date night jar"
because,
what other jars did we have?

He stopped me and said "no in here."
I was confused, then finally realized what he was talking about.

I looked over to see this sitting on my nightstand

{Taken with my new lens, but we'll get to that later}

Now I know this may seem like a small stupid little thing but I was literally speechless.
He said "I am going to take you to Italy"
aaand as cheesy as this might sound,
I cried.
haha
But really for any of you who know how important this goal of mine is to me,
you'll understand.

So, he's the best. There really is no contest.
I am sure after he's sees this he'll be embarrassed and possibly "hate" me for a minute.
haha oh well.

{SIDE NOTE:  yes I love Devon and he is the best, but uh I also just got a lens today that might come as a strong second. I'm completely head over heels for this little bit of technology. *sigh*}

Kansas Part 2

While we were in Kansas we celebrated two very special birthdays!
The first was Devon's. Poor Devon his birthday fell on the day we were driving out to Kansas so the first 14 hours weren't very thrilling. Although, I did manage to tell him "happy birthday" about 45,000 times and I bought him a milkshake at Mcdonalds

I am and awesome wife.

I had told my parents we were coming so we decided to throw a little surprise party for Devon on the night of our arrival with some family friend's that know Devon pretty well.
Jenni (who is like my second mom) made him an awesome cake for the occasion! (she was also the one that did our wedding cake)

taken with my i pod in low light (sorry for the quality)
I mean seriously HOW COOL IS THAT!? it had little light sabers and everything! Totally awesome. He was very impressed to say the least.

Later in the week we celebrated my mama's birthday which was fun. We have a little tradition in the Albrechtsen house hold. Whenever there is a birthday, my parents would always decorate the house the night before while we were asleep.
well...
Devon, dad and I did it this time. It looked really bad. But I did discover a new talent that my husband has

He can make balloon animals!!
What the heck?

Anyway, so then we proceed to the following day and we went to the art museum in Kansas City. Which I always love :)

Then it was off to Olive garden for the special lady's dinner and then cake and present time!

for those who know my mother, you will know why we put "happy birthday windy Lyndee" on the cake

She got to wear an awesome hat that Devon made her haha

"Good moms have sticky floors, dirty ovens, and happy kids" One of her gifts

Then the week concluded with taking Marissa out of school to go have breakfast with me
and a photoshoot with Lindsay
ha

When it's an Albrechtsen photoshoot, it isn't going to be normal

And then Devon wanted some too

And so that was our vacation.
We left the next day definitely not wanting to leave.
